Magical Winter in Greenfield! 9 Outdoor Activities to Enjoy with Your Child

Back to blog

Winter transforms into a magical period after the first snowflakes fall, which seem to set the tone for fun, inviting everyone, young and old, to enjoy life more.

Do you remember the excitement your childhood games stirred in you?
Have you ever told your children about the activities that used to keep children busy all day? Back then, nobody missed social media, tablets, phones, laptops, and other gadgets without which we can't imagine life now. Parents are responsible for passing this on to the next generation.

So, share the games of yesteryear with the little ones and give them access to a piece of your childhood.
The most beautiful memories are created during time spent together, so you should invite the whole family to take part in these outdoor activities.

Make a snowman

Don't let winter pass without building at least one snowman with your little rascal. Get the necessary „materials” – a carrot for the nose, a broom, a scarf, a hat, and buttons for the eyes and mouth. If your little one is overflowing with creativity, let them put their mark on the project. Fun is guaranteed!

2. Big snowball

Surely you haven't forgotten the snowball fights you used to have as a child. Involve the whole family or neighborhood friends and organize the game in teams. You can set rules and prizes to make the atmosphere even more lively.

3. Target Throw

Another fun winter activity you should share with your children is throwing snowballs at a target. First, make the snowballs, then choose a target and set the distance from which you will throw at it. The competition can be done individually or in teams, depending on how many people are interested in the area. Obviously, the winner is the one who hits the target the most times.

Let's give sledding another chance!

Although children are now more tempted to go ice skating, it doesn't mean you can't convince them to go sledding together. Afterward, to regain your strength, enjoy the charm of the winter neighborhood and the proximity of the forest, and embark on a magical walk in search of deer and forest sprites.

5. Play soccer in the snow

There was no need for sophisticated toys to get the fun going back then. All it took was for one of the neighborhood kids to bring a ball from home (or one would be invented on the spot!) and the merriment became contagious. When it comes to playing football in the snow, you don't need many rules, just participation.

6. Start X and O in the snow

X and O in 3D? Yes, it's possible! When you play it in the snow! You only need two sticks to draw the grid and the popular symbols of the game. Spice up the moment by introducing rewards that the player who wins the most rounds will enjoy.

7. „Baba Oarba” never forgets!

If you played this fun game at least once in your childhood, you've surely not forgotten it. Introduce it to the little ones in your family and liven up the atmosphere. In case you've forgotten the rules, we remind you that one of the participants is blindfolded with a scarf and must catch the others, who are not allowed to leave a certain area defined at the beginning. If the blindfolded player guesses who they've caught, they pass the scarf on, and the game continues. Snow will make the game harder, but it will also make it more interesting and fun at the same time.

8. Little angels in the snow

This game is so simple that it would be a shame not to show it to your child. Forget for a few moments that you’re an adult and throw yourself carefree into the snow. Wave your arms and kick your legs, and then enjoy the result.

Remember the casemates

How long has it been since you built a bunker behind the apartment building and enjoyed the arrival of winter like you did in your childhood? Relive those wonderful moments with your child and share the games that made you so happy in your early years.

Teach your child how to build a small snow igloo and how to use it for shelter from “enemy” snowballs.

Childhood games fun for you and your child, becoming successful alternatives to computer games. Take advantage of the days off around the winter holidays and spend unforgettable moments with your loved ones, either in playgrounds dedicated to children in Greenfield or on the paths of Băneasa Forest. Even if you don't have time for all the activities listed above, make sure that even a classic snowman or a popular snowball fight is not missing from your program this winter.
