How does family life change when you live in a place designed for community?
Back to blogWhen you become a parent, the way you choose where to live takes on a completely different weight. It's no longer just about the apartment, but about the daily rhythm, safety, and the people around you — things that, over time, truly define „home.”.
For Adina and her family, this change began with a first visit to the Greenfield neighborhood in 2018. It was an experience that stayed with them more than they expected.
„I didn't expect to like it so much. I felt like I had stepped into a small «outsider» neighborhood, like in an American movie,” she recalls, describing the relaxed and familiar atmosphere from the very first contact.
A few years later, in 2021, when she was pregnant, the decision came naturally. Together with her husband, they were looking for „a clean place, with a lot of green space and a clear sense of community”, but, as Adina herself says, „it wasn't just about the apartment, but about what our daily life could look like.”.
A calmer rhythm, which changes the day's dynamics
Life in the Greenfield neighborhood gradually settled into a rhythm that, for Adina, makes a difference every day.
The program starts like any family's – breakfast, getting the child ready – but the rest of the day has a different dynamic. Working from home, the proximity of amenities, and quick access to relaxation areas greatly simplify organization.
For her, it matters that „daily life is more settled here,« which allows her to more easily transition from work to family time. After work, things come almost naturally: a walk, the playground, or a trip to the forest.
The community that is built over time
Beyond the space and facilities, the real difference came from the relationships built here.
„What truly convinced me to stay in Greenfield was, without a doubt, the community. After my son was born, I met many parents, we became close, and over time, a large group formed. Now we have playdates, we go out together, and we even go on vacation together. It's the kind of bond and «home» that, honestly, I don't know where we could have built similarly in another area of Bucharest. For us, that's the greatest value of the place,” she explains.
Naturally, these bonds form around children. As Adina says, „I met many parents here, we became close, and over time a large group formed,” and interactions become part of the daily routine.
A simple but valuable routine
Family life takes on a simplicity that's hard to replicate in other parts of the city. Going outside doesn't require planning, and time spent together comes naturally.
For Adina, one of the most important things is that „it's very easy to go outside,” with parks and playgrounds nearby, as well as the forest just a stone's throw away.
In this context, things fall into place naturally: children meet, play, and parents end up socializing effortlessly.
The safety that brings peace
An essential aspect for any parent is safety. In the Greenfield neighborhood, this is tangibly felt in daily life.
For Adina, it matters that it's „an area where, as they grow, children can go out and play on their own,” without the tension you feel in crowded or high-traffic areas.
This freedom completely changes the childhood experience, but also the parents' state of mind.
Nature, part of the daily program
The proximity to the forest directly influences the family's lifestyle. Walks have become one of their constant activities, requiring no planning.
Adina's husband started going out frequently for bike rides with their youngest, and these moments quickly became some of their favorites.
„For the little one, it's wonderful: he looks for insects, gathers leaves, watches everything that moves, and discovers something new each time,” she says, describing a simple but essential form of play.
At the same time, these outings become „quality time that takes us out of the hectic pace of ordinary days.”.

Facilities that simplify everyday life
Besides nature and community, there are also practical details that matter. For Adina, having quick access to activities for herself and her child makes a difference in her daily organization.
It's a big plus that we have Wellness zone ”right in the neighborhood," especially since she goes there for both her training and her child's activities.
In addition, the development of infrastructure in the area is an important aspect for the future. She believes that a kindergarten and a public school are „extremely necessary in the area, especially considering how many children and young families are here.”.
Moments that bring people together
Beyond the daily routine, there are those moments that transform a place into a community.
„Halloween has a special energy: Trick or Treat is organized, children and parents dress up, and neighbors even get involved. For a few hours, you feel like the whole neighborhood is entering the same story.”.
The same happens at Christmas or other neighborhood events — movie nights, children's shows, or informal gatherings that bring people together.
A lifestyle that comes naturally
Overall, Adina says that family life here „feels easier and more relaxed.”.
It's not about radical changes, but about simple things that, put together, create a balance: proximity to nature, community, safety, and access to amenities.
And the result is a natural routine—„play outside, go to the woods, time together”—that doesn't rely on complicated plans but manages to offer exactly what matters.
