Clean & Run, clean forest for a healthy life

We prepared for Clean & Run as we organize for any event that involves nature, outdoor activities, and spending time with loved ones and people who share our ideas and thoughts. We have successfully overcome the emotions of the previous day, a day when the rain seemed to never stop, and our plans were at risk of being disrupted.

As promised, we settled in this morning workplace. Some of us prepared the trash bags and gloves participants would wear, while others took care of preparing hot drinks for those who were cold. Last but not least, we all helped set up the starting area for the biggest plogging event in Băneasa Forest.

Although we had over 250 registrations, the fear that our efforts might be in vain was completely dispelled when, little by little, dozens of participants approached us with smiles and asked for materials to get a head start. Their eagerness warmed us too, and as their numbers approached 100, we were also ready to leave with them, even though it hadn't been in our initial plan. 🙂

Divided into four teams based on the difficulty of the trail to be covered, we managed to collect over 200 kg of waste from approximately 25 kilometers of paths and trails in the forest that is beside us and brings us joy every day. And all of this in just two hours.

Our already traditional friends and partners at Băneasa Forest Run they led the four teams and ensured everything went according to plan, Radio Zu ensured a good mood in the start/finish area, and the volunteers at Let's Do It, Romania! They showed us that to do good, the only reward needed is a smile and a warm tea. We could not have done any of these things without the help of the forest rangers. Romsilva, who are always by our side when we want to help the forest. And last but not least, we must also thank those from Romprest for promptness in collecting collected waste.

Every time a group returned at its core, they were saddened by the sight of so much trash left behind by the inconsiderate, but also happy that the situation was not without hope and that, in the future, they would be replaced by those who are children today. They were the driving force behind the action, eager to clean up their playground, dirtied by adults for whom words like order, cleanliness, or common sense mean nothing.

Although not everyone who expressed interest in coming managed to make it due to the weather, those who were present received a healthy dose of positive energy, outdoor sports, and civic activism, which even made the weather soften and help us.

Clean & Run This was the signal that what we are doing, we are doing well and that there is no way for us to stop right now. Future generations will grow up with respect and care for the environment, and we have no other solution than to support them.

In the future, we plan to organize other environmental campaigns, even in other areas of Bucharest along multiple routes, for everyone who feels responsible towards nature and wants to show that change comes only from within each of us.
